Our Journey

Mr. Don Simon Edirisinghe
Founder

Our founder the late Mr. Don Simon Edirisinghe established Edirisinghe Brothers Limited – ‘Auto Court’ in 1947. He was a visionary entrepreneur and philanthropist. His bold decision to invest and set up a precision automotive workshop during the early years of vehicle imports to Sri Lanka was truly visionary. He mission was to offer precision workshop services and from inception invested only on European machinery of the highest standard like the SCHOU machine from Denmark shown from our archives as below.

The company has grown from handling a few engines a year to a workshop handling in excess of 24,000 engines per year. Our founder’s solid foundation and mission have made ‘Edirisinghe Brothers’ or better known by Sri Lankans as ‘Auto Court’ a name synonymous with precision engineering. Generations of vehicle owners are loyal customers of our company. Our founder started the company offering vehicle servicing (oil change, wash etc.,) as well as engine rebuilding services for passenger and commercial vehicles at the time.

In the last 30 years the company has increased exponentially its capacity to handle engine-rebuilding work with significant investments into machinery from Europe, U.S.A and U.K. This constant increase in workshop capacity has allowed us to offer an industry unique ‘ONE DAY SERVICE’ for engine rebuilding services thus allowing our customers who come from all parts of the country to complete their engine rebuilds in one day. Our investment into BOSCH diesel fuel pump test/calibration benches has allowed vehicle owners to have their complete engine rebuilt under one roof.

The company has also invested significantly into lathe, milling and shaping machinery in the last 30 years allowing us to handle fabrication and repairs to mechanical components and machinery like gear wheels, pulleys, propeller shafts, hydraulic shafts etc., We partner many overseas and local companies involved in Sri Lanka’s infrastructure development work like ports, road development, power generation etc.,

In 2016, the company started Edirisinghe Brothers Hybrid Hub (www.hybridhub.lk), a workshop located near the iconic Khettarama International Cricket Stadium in Colombo with expertise in servicing, repairing and high voltage battery conditioning of Hybrid vehicles. With proprietary technology from U.S.A and technicians trained in Singapore, Hybrid Hub is Sri Lanka’s premier facility for hybrid electric vehicle engineering needs. Thus, Edirisinghe Brothers (Pvt) Limited with its long and established automotive engineering heritage is positioned as a leader to support the automotive engineering needs of the Sri Lankan motor user of the present and future.
